Job Description
Your impact at ShirlynPay:

As an Engineering Manager, you will play a vital role in designing and building the next-generation platform for charity experience and compliance. This platform will serve as the foundation for onboarding and engaging more charities into the ShirlynPay system. Additionally, you will be responsible for nurturing and developing the next generation of engineers within the team.

Responsibility:

• Collaborating with various stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Guiding the engineers in designing effective solutions.
• Writing code in Java and the Spring framework.
• Reviewing code written by team members and providing constructive feedback.
• Testing software and ensuring successful product releases to production.
• Participating in the triaging and resolution of production issues.
• Leading scrum meetings and driving improvements in execution rhythms.

Qualification:
To excel in this role, you should bring:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Over 10 years of hands-on experience in Java-based software development, focusing on high-traffic backend services, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
• At least 2 years of experience managing and leading engineering teams in a fast-paced, Agile development environment.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of the software development and delivery lifecycle.
• Demonstrated success in delivering complex software projects from concept to production, with emphasis on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Strong skills in Java, object-oriented design and development, Spring, SpringBoot, Hibernate, REST, Maven, Git, and other open-source Java libraries.
• Familiarity with architecture principles for SOA, event-driven systems, and large-scale systems.
• Proficiency in data structures, algorithm concepts, database design, programming, tuning, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of test methodologies and experience with testing tools such as TestNG and JUnit.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to thoroughly understand product specifications and produce clear and concise documentation.
• Comfort working with Agile and Scrum methodologies, as well as experience in project planning and management.
• Strong collaboration skills, particularly in working effectively with remote teams across different time zones.
• Understanding of compliance processes and standards, including security and data privacy.
• Additional experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ or any message broker, as well as hands-on experience with containerization using Docker, would be a plus.
